Woke up this morning to this picture from my dad:

Not much to report about today. More epiphyte counting in the dry forest - I'm still finding very few, so the transects are pretty boring.
There was still plenty of entertainment from Simone and Lukas, however. We took a lot of breaks today, so continue to learn about each other's lives, friends from back home, and little known facts. Additionally, I learned from Lukas what "salmoning" someone means. I'm not sure why, but for some reason the concept (and the act) cracks me up.
We got back to the schoolhouse around 4, and then Simone and I went for a run - I'm pretty sure I have shin splints, so that's fun...
For dinner, everyone got a bit dressed up for the "special occasion" that is Valentine's Day. There had been talk of staging an awkward middle school dance, but unfortunately (?) that didn't happen. We still listened to the amazing middle school playlist that had been created for said while we played games and drank cheap wine. To make the evening even better, Leangelo surprised us all with the best present ever!! He blew up a balloon for each of us, and wrote a personal message on every single one. So much love <3
Tomorrow, we're back in the field for our final day at Parque Natural Metropolitano. Then it'll be work on saturday, rest on sunday, and off the the wet forest. That's all for now
